The Golden Spread Modelers Club was formed in the late 1970’s at Half Track Hobbies, located on Washington street around the corner from the Esquire Theater (The HRH Building is located in this location now). Tom Pace owned the hobby shop and wanted to start a IPMS chapter in Amarillo.
Some of the first members of the Golden Spread Modelers were: Tom Pace, Rick Pavic, Darrell Cochran, Bill Bacon, Dennis Satterwhite, Jerry Allen and Mike Allen.
The meetings were held at the hobby shop until Tom decided to close the his store. The club went on to meeting at members houses until we found the meeting room at the Amarillo East Branch Library. The meetings were held at the library from 1978 until we moved to Hobby Time in 2006.
